Once again, ELTRAK CAT stood out among the participants for the quality of the product as well as the integrated business solutions on offer.

Caterpillar’s Web-based software helps to calculate the power necessary for each project

The generators and the UPS systems for standby power supply can have their application in any economic sphere in which the short-term outage or the low quality of power brings about great financial losses. In sectors such as tourism, industrial production, agriculture, banking, IT sector, hospitals, airports, telecoms, etc. these losses are particularly noticeable.

The proper selection of the equipment is one of the main factors in its effective use. This selection is usually based on the calculations of the electric designers and companies, however, the latter do not always have the required knowledge of the technical characteristics of the particular brand of equipment. In such cases, the designers spend an enormous amount of time in calculating the necessary standby power and sometimes provide for higher power in order to guarantee that the critical loads will be borne. This unnecessarily raises the cost of the investment and the installation expenses. For the purpose of shortening this process and calculating the power that is closest to the one necessary for a specific project, Caterpillar provides the free use of a Web-based software, which can be found by clicking on the following link: https://specsizer.cat.com.

The software is not new to CAT or its dealers, however, it has only recently been made freely available to electric designers, electric installation specialists and end users. This software enables an accurate and easy simulation of various alternatives for standby power supply for critical loads and optimization of their start-up. This software makes it easy to provide for different conditions of the environment – temperature, humidity, altitude, frequency – 50/60 Hz, voltage – from 110 to 13800V as well as various types of loads depending on the project. In addition, the programme is able to optimize automatically the sequence of starting up the loads, which is aimed at optimizing the installed power and saving funds in the process of installation of the equipment. For the users’ convenience, the software is available in several languages – English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese. Those projects which have been calculated can be stored and changed, and there is an option of exporting the results as a PDF file and using them for substantiation. Ultimately, this saves time and guarantees the correctness and promptness of the investor’s judgement when selecting the equipment for the respective conditions.
